Craig Elliott says there are no hard feelings as Brad Abbott departs Boston United.

The midfielder announced he was leaving the Pilgrims on Twitter this week after making 106 appearances and scoring 13 goals since joining in December 2017.

He is rumoured to be joining former Boston teammate Ben Middleton at Grantham Town, although no deal has been announced by the Gingerbreads.

"We made Brad two or three offers since Christmas but couldn't come to an agreement," Elliott told The Standard.

"It's a shame, he's got his reasons for moving on and I wanted him to stay.

"But I've got nothing but good things to say, he's been an incredible signing for me and a pleasure to manage.

"He's been first class on and off the pitch, rarely missed training or games and he's an absolute winner.

"I wish him nothing but well, these things happen in football. Good luck to the lad, he'll go on and do well whoever he signs for."
