East Lindsey walking scheme given national recognition

AN EAST Lindsey-launched walking programme has been awarded national accreditation.

East Lindsey Active, a health walks programme aimed at people who take little or no exercise, has been recognised by Walking for Health for its organisation and professional nature.

The programme began in November 2007, and incorpoorates Nordic walks of one to three miles in length that take place across the district.

All walks are free and are given by experienced walk leaders.

Scheme Co-ordinator, Tracey Richardson, said: “The walks are great way to keep fit. Walking is such a great way to explore your local area and improve your health at the same time.

We launched the walks to encourage more people in our area to be active and many people now take part regularly.

“As well as exploring the Wolds and the coast, the walks also give people a chance to make new friends.”

The Council will launch a new programme of walks in the coming weeks.
