Paula Baldwin’s Louth-based Big Swing Band is hoping to jump aboard the musical band wagon when they appear at The Riverhead Theatre next Friday and Saturday (June 7 and 8) with their new show “Swingin’ In The Rain”.

The theatre’s own Playgoers amdram group have just had a highly successful run with their first class production of the musical “42nd Street” playing to sellout audiences. And now the 17-piece Swing Band are teaming up with 14 of the Playgoers glamourous tap dancers, aptly named The 42nd Street Hoofers, to put on a night of songs and tunes from many of the ever popular Hollywood and Broadway musicals.

It’s the Band’s sixth successive year at the Riverhead and this year’s show is geared to appeal to lovers of musicals as well as fans of big band swing music.

The Band has four trumpets, four trombones, fixe saxophones and a four piece rhythm section, all directed by Major (retd) Paul Murrell.

Tickets are £12.50 and can be booked at the theatre box office between 10am and 1pm or phone 01507 600350.
