CHILDREN are being invited by Louth Garden Centre to put their creative skills to the test and draw a picture of their perfect cake.
The garden centre, in Legbourne Road, is challenging children to enter the drawing competition, which ties in with Love British Food fortnight (July 27 until August 12).
Manager Jane Allen-Chilman explained: “We are an official partner of Love British Food and thought it would be a fun idea to host a cake drawing competition.
“Love British Food is a celebration of the diverse and delicious range of food available in Britain, as well as the health benefits of eating quality, fresh, seasonal and regionally distinct produce.
“We would like children aged between four and eight to draw and decorate their perfect cake on an entry form.
“It can be any shape or colour, but it must be themed around something British, such as the Jubilee, native flowers or anything else with a British theme. We’re hoping to see lots of wonderful drawings.”
Jane added: “There will be one overall winner nationwide who will win a ‘My Picnic’ for 20 friends or classmates at one of our garden centres’ restaurant, as well as private hire of one of our play areas.
“The winning cake will be baked by our head chef for the winner to share with his/her friends or classmates.”
The two nationwide runners-up will each win a ‘My Picnic’ for themselves and five of their friends at one of The Garden Centre Group’s restaurants.
Anyone wishing to enter the competition is asked to hand in their entry form, which is available at the garden centre, by Friday, August 31 at 4.30pm.
The Group will judge the best drawing and the winner will be announced on Monday, September 17.
