One year on from their debut sell-out appearance at Grimsby Central Hall, New Orleans Heat returns by popular demand, on Saturday March 16, for another night of Café Jazz.
The powerful and exciting seven-piece band play the old style New Orleans Jazz, recreating the music of the Crescent City, be it Stomp, Blues, Spirit or pop song of the day.
Their style is that of the late, great Bunk Johnson, George Lewis and Kid Thomas bands.
It’s a style that never wavers in appeal, ensuring a busy schedule of gigs at jazz clubs, concerts and festivals throughout the UK and Europe.
Barry Grummett joined the band in 1992, subsequently taking over as leader and it is his Alton Purnell-style driving piano that is a key component in the band’s sound.
Their motto is, “helping to keep the real Jazz alive”, which seems appropriate for a venue that considers itself, “the home of real music.”
