Award for Cross Roads Inn East Barkwith

THE Cross Roads Inn, East Barkwith, well known as the place to be for good food has now been recognised officially for serving the best food in the 80 pubs owned by Batemans.

‘Mine hosts’ Adie and Emma Graves were delighted when the Cross Roads Inn was announced as the winner and they were presented with the Rewarding Success 2011 framed certificate for fulfilling food potential in Destination Dining at the presentation evening hosted by Bateman family at Wainfleet.

They were also very pleased to be presented with the Highly Commended for Rewarding Success 2011 framed certificate for Cellar Management which is judged on the quality of the beer and the cleanliness of the cellar the two awards are now proudly displayed in the pub. Adie and Emma have worked hard to build up the business and reputation of the Cross Roads Inn since moving to East Barkwith at the end of last year in the depths of the worst winter weather for some time.

They were pleased to be able to get off to a good start though, by providing a warm welcome for their customers who packed into the pub to celebrate New Years Eve in a very jolly atmosphere at what was their first big event there.

Congratulations are due to them as this is the second time in six years that the couple, who are both chefs, have won the Bateman’s best food award and they have been runners up in the years between with this year the added accolade for Cellar Management too. All the landlords of Bateman’s pubs were treated to overnight accommodation at an hotel in Skegness with transport to Wainfleet where they entertained to a three course meal and drinks as part of the presentation event.

For Adrian and Emma there was the added pleasure of finding that they were award winners too and they would like to thank all their customers for their support and in particular those who, after enjoying their meal at the Cross Roads had taken the trouble to send favourable comments to Batemans.
