RAND Farm Park owners Richard and Kay Waring were last week awarded the Runner Up Award in the National Farm Attractions Network (NFAN) Visitor Attraction 2010 Competition for farm-based tourist attractions with over 75,000 visitors.
The scheme is open to all attractions in England, Scotland and Wales and is divided into three categories depending upon visitor numbers. It is then judged by six anonymous visitors throughout the year who mark each attraction from different viewpoints including education, value for money and health and safety.
“We are obviously delighted to win this award, particularly against such strong competition,” said Kay. “But it is not just our award, it is for the whole team here at Rand. We pride ourselves on creating a family attraction and we consider our staff play a big part in ensuring we continue to offer that “family feel” to our service and facilities.”
The award comes as Rand Farm Park, near Wragby, is currently undergoing a major revamp for the 2011 season.
The entrance has now been moved and part of the car-park fenced off ready for the electric cars that will be installed in time for Easter.
Crazy pool has been built ready for the school half term holidays next week and further developments will include frisbee fun, goat mountain and more animal paddocks outside.
“Standards for the NFAN Competition this year were extremely high and we were aware that our recent investments at Rand had been for our educational and residential Programmes. We therefore feel it was important to assess and then improve the experience for our day visitors in order to keep up with, or more importantly, stay ahead of our national competitors,” said Kay.
“Hopefully then we may look to improve upon this award next year”
