A NEW Tesco superstore looks likely to be coming to Mablethorpe, after Council planning committee members gave it the thumbs up on Thursday.

The supermarket giant has received ‘minded approval’ for the new store in Station Road from East Lindsey District Council’s planning committee, subject to conditions including acceptance of a separate planning permission to provide a new sports centre.

The new sports facility is a proviso of Tesco building on the site of the town’s current sports centre in Station Road. The new centre would be built in Stanley Avenue as part of a section 106 agreement.

There are also some remaining issues which need to be resolved.

Tesco hope to create 150 new part and full time jobs for the town thanks to the new store.
