A Louth businesswoman will host a Christmas charity fair in memory of her father, who spent his final days in a Sue Ryder hospice during a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Tracie Mansbridge, 28, who runs DM Inflatables & Party Services with her husband Daniel, will hold the event at the Royal British Legion Hall in Northgate, Louth, on Friday (December 22) between 10am and 2pm.

‘Christmas was my dad’s favourite time of the year - we have organised this event
in memory of him’ Tracie Mansbridge

Tracie approached the Sue Ryder team in Louth to offer to raise funds for the charity, in memory of her father Antony Ellis who sadly died at the age of 55 last
November following a ‘brief yet heroic battle’ with stage four pancreatic cancer.

Antony has been diagnosed just nine weeks earlier, and sadly there was little that could be done to help him.

He spent his final days at Sue Ryder’s St John’s Hospice in Bedfordshire - and his family will be forever grateful for the warmth and sympathy they received from the staff.

Tracie told the Leader: “There are no words to express my gratitude, and I don’t think there’s enough I can do to thank these people for how they cared for my dad and my family.

“Christmas was my dad’s favourite time of the year, and due to his fun personality and being very much a family man, we have organised this event in memory of him.”

Tracie continued: “I’d like to dedicate some of my time to give something back. I want to help them to help families like mine.

“If I can help raise funds and raise awareness for this wonderful charity and make even the tiniest difference, then I know it will honour my Dad’s memory and make me proud – as I was extremely proud to be his daughter.”

Joanne Maltby, from Sue Ryder, said: “We are so grateful to Tracie for helping us organise the perfect tribute to her dad, who was fun loving and brave to the very end.

“Please join us at our Christmas Fair to help us support more families like Tracie’s.”

There is free entry to the event, which will feature Christmas craft and gift stalls, tombola, free bouncy castle, Santa’s Grotto, live music, refreshments, and more.
