A community clean up will take place at Charles Street Pond, Louth, tomorrow evening (Thursday July 16) at 6pm in a bid to remove the rubbish and overgrowth in the surrounding area.
A group of local residents who enjoy fishing at the pond have already put the wheels in motion by tidying up at the site and making six new fishing pegs at the pond.
Dean Rance told the Leader: “There are rats, dog poo, and drugs in the area - and kids could be there during the summer. But nobody has seemed to do anything about it.
“I’ve enjoyed fishing there since I was a kid. We used to have fishing matches there and there were plenty of fishermen involved, so its a shame to see that going to waste.”
Dean added that anybody who is keen to help to sort out the mess at the site would be welcome to come along at 6pm tomorrow (Thursday).
It is hoped that the community clean up will be an ongoing project in the future to help keep the site in a good condition.
