A comedy show by Louth resident Graham Fellows - better known in character as John Shuttleworth - has raised thousands of pounds for a local charity.
The show, which took place on March 28, raised £3,050 for the Ark Animal Rescue and Retirement Home in North Somercotes.
The performance took place at the Riverhead Theatre in Louth, and marked the final night of John Shuttleworth’s “A Wee Ken To Remember” tour around the country.
Speaking before the show, Graham Fellows said: “I always try to support a local charity when I perform in Louth.
“I was made aware last year in a Leader article about the financial plight of the Ark, and decided to help.
“The Ark in Donna Nook has for years done a fantastic job housing and attempting to rehouse rescue dogs and cats, horses, etc.
“They need more support and all the publicity they can get.”
Sue Rice, manager at The Ark, thanked Graham for the “amazing amount” of money, which was raised through merchandise, collection pots and ticket sales.
Sue said: “Such generosity from a local showbiz man.
“He gave all of his takings from that night, and I am overwhelmed - we struggle to raise this amount on our annual open day.”
Many thanks go to all those who supported the show.
