LOUTH Town are counting the cost of a deliberate fire which destroyed a storage shed at their Park Avenue stadium.
The blaze took place around 3am on New Year’s Day, just hours before Louth were due to host Grimsby Borough.
A wheelie bin was set alight which then destroyed the shed used as a club shop and damaged the men’s toilets.
The fire brigade broke down the double turnstile gates in order to gain access to the ground and put out the fire.
Stadium manager Rick Hill said: “It’s such a shame to start the New Year in this way.
“But we had a great turnout of committee members to clear the damage, which ensured the game against Grimsby Borough could go ahead.”
Police confirmed that the cause of the fire was deliberate.
