Louth man sentenced after assaulting NHS security officers

William Burdfield, 45, of Le Ferte Bernard Close, committed the three offences in Grimsby in October last year, and he pleaded guilty to the charges at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court on February 8.

Burdfield assaulted two male NHS security workers and used threatening or abusive words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour, within the sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress as a result.

Burdfield was sentenced to a 12 week prison sentence, suspended for six months, due to the serious nature of the offences.

The six month supervision period includes a rehabilitation activity requirement up to three days.

He was also ordered to pay compensation of £50 and £100 respectively to the two assault victims, and pay a further £85 in court costs.

The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into account by the court when sentencing.
