A MAN has been released on bail after a car smashed through the window of the Eve and Ranshaw store in Louth Market Place on Tuesday night.

Police were called around 8.40pm after it was reported that a blue BMW 316 had crashed into the store, breaking the glass.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately afterwards.

Shortly after police arrested a 27-year-old Louth man on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident.

He was taken to Skegness Police Station where he was interviewed and has now been released on bail until March 16 while enquiries continue.

The front of the store has already been boarded up until repairs can be made.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident itself, the BMW prior to the crash or who saw anyone fleeing the scene.

Anyone who may have information can contact the Police on 101, quoting incident 394 of February 7.
