Police are appealing for witnesses to an alleged assault, which took place along the footpath from Mill Lane to Sandringham Drive, in Louth, last night (Saturday)

A force spokesman said a 26-year-old local woman was walking along the path when she ‘was accosted by a man who pulled her to the ground. She managed to lash out and escape.”

The spokesman said: “The motive for the offenders actions is unclear. He did not speak and it is not known in which direction he went after the incident. The woman fled onto Sandringham Drive. She was not injured but was understandably very shaken by the experience.”

The offender is described as white, aged in his early to mid-30’s, 5’6” to 5’8” tall, stocky build, with short dark hair and no noticeable facial hair.

He was said to be wearing a dark coloured hoodie top and blue jeans.
