VILLAGERS are celebrating the completion of the first phase of redevelopment to Gayton le Marsh Village Hall with the official opening of the new kitchen.
The new look hall is now open for coffee mornings, social evenings and hiring for special events.
Chairman Marjorie Barr said: “The process was started when the WI and Coun Hugo Marfleet made donations towards the resurfacing the forecourt.
“Thanks to Carol Marsden who created a questionnaire for the residents of the village to tell us what they would like to see improved in the village. She followed this up, with Diana Millward, by applying to the Awards for All lottery fund which a year ago awarded us £10,000 to create a new kitchen.
“That, and some other work on the hall is now complete.”
She added: “We also want to thank Paul Smith the builder for his work and advice, Neil Evison, repointing, and the committee and other volunteers for their contribution.
“We now look forward to the next phase of renovation.”
