North Somercotes CE Primary School has received a special commendation from the Department of Education.
A recent letter from Nick Gibb MP, the Minister of State for School Reform, praised the school’s “very high standard” as it is in the top five per cent of schools in this year’s phonics check.
Additionally, at least 95 per cent of pupils achieved the expected standard in the check.
Headteacher Paul Floyd said: “It is always a privilege to be recognised in this way.
“The children have a fantastic attitude to learning, and the staff, governors and whole school community have worked together to ensure outstanding phonics provision within our school.”
