East Lindsey District Council staff work over Christmas

Teams from East Lindsey District Council are gearing up for a busy Christmas and New Year.

Many teams from the council say they will be working over the festival period cleaning streets, emptying litter bins, gritting car parks, ensuring public toilets are opened on time, monitoring CCTV cameras and supporting people with urgent housing needs.

Leader of the District Council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson, said: “Our teams work hard all year round to ensure the District is clean and tidy and that vulnerable people are looked after and that work doesn’t stop over Christmas and New Year. Also, our team at the Embassy Theatre are opening the doors to provide their usual Christmas Day Dance for the community to enjoy.”

The Council’s Street Scene teams will work up to Christmas Day, returning on Boxing Day. The CCTV team will continue to monitor the cameras 24/7 and Housing Teams will be on call should there be an urgent request for housing support or emergency accommodation.

Trevor Cussons, a Senior Cleansing Operative in Skegness, said: “New Years Day is particularly busy for the Street Scene team. We’ll be out early, clearing and tidying the streets after the celebrations that often go on well into the early hours, just as our day is starting. We hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year but we’d urge everyone to please use the bins we provide.”

CCTV Manager at the Council, John Fleming, said: “Teams will be monitoring the cameras 24/7 as they do all year around to help ensure local people and visitors are safe whilst out shopping and enjoying their festive nights out. We hope everyone has a safe Christmas.”
