Cadets aid two causes

The cadets from King Edward V1 Grammar School’s CCF decided as part of their community service requirements to do a sponsored walk for two charities, BLESMA and the RAFA.

The idea came from SSI WO1 Appleton, who suggested BLESMA at one of the staff meetings, Major Tim Hayday as Contingent Commandant put the idea to the contingent and the idea was supported 100 per cent.

Cadets wanted to support the charity, as they wished to help those servicemen and women that have lost limbs, or sight that have served their country.

The contingent set to work preparing a sponsored walk from Louth to Theddlethorpe.

The walk took place and with sponsorship money in the sum of £1,000 was raised, resulting in two charities receiving £500.

Charley Streather, BLESMA Midlands Area Welfare Officer, received their money from Major Hayday.
