AS part of National Apprenticeship Week, 50 young people from across Lincolnshire were given the opportunity to gain hands-on construction experience through a range of activities as part of a careers day held at The Wolds College in Louth.

The Industry Training Board and Sector Skills Council for construction, CITB-ConstructionSkills, teamed up with the college and The Build A Future Training Centre in West Ashby to provide young people with an opportunity to try their hand at bricklaying, plumbing and plastering, surveying and planning.

A range of local employers attended the event to the meet apprentices of the future, and CITB-ConstructionSkills apprenticeship officers were on hand to explain the support available to students, encouraging them to consider the wide variety of career paths in the sector.

The students came from John Spendluffe Technology College in Alford, Birkbeck College in North Somercotes, Monks’ Dyke Technology College in Louth and King Edward VI Humanities College in Spilsby.
