A fleet of new dustcarts will soon be operating on the streets of East Lindsey.

At a meeting of the district council’s executive board, it was agreed to phase out the existing leasing arrangments in favour of purchasing 16 vehicles of its own.

The cost will be about £2.43 million, but the authority is confident that this will be cheaper, in the long term, than leasing.

The new carts, which should be on the roads at Easter, will carry the latest in-cab technology and use electric rather than hydraulic bin-lifting equipment.
