AROUND 300 young people gave locals a fright as they appeared from nowhere to perform a flood awareness ‘flashmob’ in Mablethorpe.

The resort was turned a sea of blue as the crowd donned colours in the event, which was inspired by other flashmob events seen in towns across the UK.

ELDC portfolio holder for the environment, Coun Steve Newton, said: “Along with the County Council and Environment Agency, we’ve been working hard to explain the importance of our communities being prepared for coastal flooding. The flash mob forms part of this ongoing educational campaign.

“The coast is better protected now than at any time,” he added.
