Household Waste Recycling Centre New Year opening

THE Household Waste Recycling Centre in Louth will be open on New Year’s Day.

Lincolnshire County Council, which runs the facility, says people should have a good clear-out at home and make a trip to their local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Ian Taylor, Environmental Services Team Leader (Waste), said: “Why not spend some time this Christmas having a real good clear-out at home? There’s so much that you can bring to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre for recycling, more than 25 different types of waste.

“Clothing you haven’t worn for a while, books and CDs, as well as your wrapping paper and Christmas tree – once you’ve finished with them of course!

“You may have been lucky enough to have received small electrical items as gifts this year from Santa. If it’s case of out with the old and in with the new, you might not realise you can bring all your old electric toothbrushes, hair straighteners, and even your laptop to be recycled here too.”

A total of 4,231 tonnes of WEEE (waste, electrical and electronic equipment) taken to Lincolnshire’s HWRCs was recycled in the last financial year.
