Firm at Humber Seafood Summit


A local company will be displayed their sweet goodies at an interntational event.

Jassies of Pawnshop Passage were at the Humber Seafood Summit which took place at the Humber Royal Hotel, Grimsby.

The event celebrated the best of Lincolnshire food and drink.

The two day event, organised by Seafish in partnership with the Humber Seafood Group, had a mouth-watering menu on offer featuring the highest quality produce from the region.

The highly anticipated international event brought together a respected panel of industry and international speakers, as well as delegates from across Europe.

Industry leaders were able to sample a menu which captured the huge variety of quality food and drink produced in the region.

Seafood featured high on the menu, with Grimsby based Icelandic providing a range of seafood dishes including scallop ceviche, blinis with smoked roasted salmon and lobster risotto, all beautifully complemented with a Fruits de Mer centre piece.

Young’s Seafood also provided a variety of dishes including its Funky Fish Kitchen Lunch Pot Seafood Mojito, haddock fishcakes and tuna with chives.

Also tickling the taste buds was Grimsby based Zest Deli, providing a wide range of cheese, jellies and chutneys.

Local brewery Tom Woods Beers was there to provide a refreshing accompaniment of Lincoln Gold Beer and Bomber Country Beer.

For those with a sweet tooth, Jassies had a retro sweet bouquet and sweet buffet on offer.

Award winning Sciolti Chocolates had its finest sea salt caramel with cream, sea buckthorn truffles handpicked from the Cleethorpes coastline, lavender truffles and fresh garden mint thins – the perfect palette cleanser after seafood.

Paul Williams, chief executive of Seafish, said: “We are delighted to be working with so many local food and drink suppliers to offer our guests the finest selection of Lincolnshire food.

“With so many delegates joining us from Europe and across the world its only fitting that they get to sample the many flavours of Lincolnshire food, which I’m sure they will enjoy!”

The two day summit, which is organised by Seafish and sponsored by organisations from across the UK, featured project presentations followed by a screening of Seafish’s film, The Business of Fishing.

The evening event featured a keynote address from Toby Middleton of the Marine Stewardship Council, followed by a networking evening catered by local suppliers of seafood and other regional specialities.
