Footloose was fantastic at Louth Riverhead Theatre

FOOTLOOSE was this year’s chosen musical for the Riverhead Theatre’s summer workshop and all of the hype surrounding the performance was lived up to, writes Chloe West.

With only 10 days from choosing the cast to opening night, I was thoroughly impressed by how far these local youngsters had come after watching their opening rehearsals.

From start to finish, the show was filled with fast-paced, energetic performances including all the Footloose favourites that I was expecting.

Holding Out for a Hero and Let’s Hear it for the Boy were sung with impressive vocals and seeing the iconic Footloose title track at the end was the icing on the cake.

The room was filled with loud floods of applause and cheers that ran from the enthusiastic cast back through to the audience.

With the main roles performed by Scott Royle, James Burgess, Sophie Grundy and Helen Crawshaw, who were outstanding, they and Director John Hewer still made sure that every cast member was counted. The bar has been set for future summer performances.
