Louth Film Club have a treat in store this December - this time it’s French comedy ‘Playtime’ that is making its way to the cinema screen.
Jacques Tati’s comedy Playtime will be shown on Monday, December 14 from 7.30pm.
Newly restored, the film (with Tati once again playing Monsieur Hulot) displays thedirector’s subtle, closely observed and complex visual humour.
The soundtrack is particularly creative – the occasional dialogue becoming a sort of sound effect.
Hulot and a group of American tourists wander round a futuristic Paris – full of straight lines, steel high-rise buildings and artificial furnishings.
Membership of the club costs £10 with £4 for each film (£6.90 for non-members; £5.50 for concessions). See full details on all the films in the current season via their website: www.louthfilmclub.com.
