ONE local dog’s tail is wagging as Freya is set to take part in the grand final of the Scruffts Family Crossbreed of the Year competition.
One-year-old dog Freya from North Somercotes will be ready to wow London crowds at Discover Dogs in Earls Court on November 12.
Freya will compete with owner Kerrie Ambrose in the hope of collecting the coveted Scruffts Family Crossbreed Dog of the Year title for 2011.
Throughout the year, heats of the popular Scruffts contest have taken place around the country in search of crossbreeds with that extra special something.
Freya has already won the Prettiest Crossbreed Bitch at the heat held at the Lincolnshire Show earlier this year, and will compete against a number of other competitors from around the country in the final.
The winners of each class in the final will then try to outshine one another as they battle it out to win the overall title.
Freya’s owner, Kerrie Ambrose said: “I’ve entered Freya in a couple of exemption competitions previously but nothing to this standard.
“We attended the Lincolnshire Show this year as it was the first year that dogs were invited to the event.
“I knew the heats were going on at the show for the grand final in London so decided to enter Freya on the day and she won.”
“It was also really nice for Freya to get out on the day and socialise with other dogs and people.”
Kerrie continued to say: “I’m extremely pleased and proud that Freya has made her way to the final, she’s just a happy, friendly dog who everyone seems to love.
“An exciting time lies ahead at the final, it’ll be nice to get out and see London, something which you don’t get to do very often.
“Also it’ll be nice to meet other dogs at the competition and their owners as well going through the same as what I will be with Freya.
“If Freya wins anything at the show then that will be a bonus. As long as she enjoys herself on the day, that’s all that mattes.”
