Group into action to help the coastal area progress

A NEWLY formed ambitious group of local residents aims to ‘get things moving’ in Mablethorpe and push the coastal area forward.

The Mablethorpe Area Action Group was set up earlier this year by residents who had previously joined forces to support a development in the town.

They met on Wednesday for their second ever committee meeting at the Boatshed, and are hoping more members of the public will come forward and support them.

Chairman Steph Carruthers explained that the group hoped to make the town a better place for all who live nearby.

“The aim is to get things moving and work with other agencies to see what gaps there are and what we can do to improve things,” she said.

“We wanted to carry on our work after we supported the Lindum development, so myself and Jacki Lucas launched this group and we held our first meeting in July.

“Our first project idea is to try and get a shelter for the skate park.

“This would need lots of fundraising and then planning permission but we’re working hard to achieve this.

“We’ve also been involved in marshalling the recent beach parties in Mablethorpe, which have proved to be a fantastic success.”

The group are keen to offer their support to other local projects and events, and can be contacted via the group’s page on Facebook, entitled Mablethorpe Area Action Group.
