The members of Hainton and district Women’s Institute celebrated their anniversary in South Willingham Parish Hall recently when they entertained family members, friends, some former members and a party of invited guests from East Batkwith Women’s Institute.
The Hainton members had prepared a sit down meal of cold ham and beef with salad and new potatoes followed by a variety of delicious home made puddings with cups of tea and coffee.
Entertainment afterwards was provided by Nigel and Teri who played and sang for their audience, accompanying themselves on guitars and accordion with their son joining them on percussion instruments.
Their programme provided a lovely variety of music including a selection of folk songs from Elizabethan times onwards and traditional and well known songs that many members recalled from their youth.
Interspersed with anecdotes it all combined to make a very jolly and entertaining evening with the delightful programme being very much enjoyed by the happy audience.
The family group were rewarded with appreciative applause as thanks were expressed to them while the guests attending thanked the Hainton WI members for the invitation to share their anniversary evening and the generous hospitality and happy social gathering which they had enjoyed.
