A couple who call Mablethorpe home revelled in their favourite time of year, Halloween and ended up getting married as a zombie bride and groom.
Maxine Smith and Dale Allen were married at Louth Registry Office on All Hallows Eve (October 31) followed by a reception at The Beck in Mablethorpe.
The couple are from the Retford area, but spend most of their free time in Mablethorpe.
“Mablethorpe feels like home to us and we just really love the place and all of the people that are in it and were hoping to be able to move to the coastal town one day soon,” Maxine explained.
“Halloween for us, is our favourite time of year, we love it more than Christmas and having our wedding actually on Halloween had a very special significance.
“In March my father Richard was ill and when we went to visit him in hospital, we told we wanted to have our wedding on Halloween and that it would be themed.
“My father loved the idea, but sadly passed away before the wedding, so we really wanted to follow through on what we told him.
“Dale’s father is also no longer with us, so we just had our mums with us at our wedding, but our dads were with us on the day in spirit.”
The Halloween theme did not end at the wedding, there was more exciting treats to follow.
Maxine added: “Around 75 people came to our wedding and everyone looked fantastic, we’re so grateful to them for making such a great effort.
“Our bridesmaids were all dressed up as witches and my son James gave me away.
“We had a coach that was decorated to escort people to and from the wedding venue, to the reception, and Debbie Charles and the other staff members at The Beck were fantastic and made our reception look incredible.
“Some of the other quirks of our big day included our cake, which was orange and black, the back of my wedding dress had half a zombie man hanging off it and my bouquet was an artificial hand with three black roses with black and white ribbon.”
