A happy snapper from Louth has bagged herself a prize of £2,500 after winning the UKs leading maritime photo competition, ‘Wish You Were Here’.
Gillian Kennett,59,took the stunning photograph (above) whilst the sun was rising on the beach in Theddlethorpe when walking her dog Hagrid.
Her image was up against hundreds of entries that came in from all across the UK.
Gill was very surprised to have found out she had won the top prize.
She said: “I cannot believe I won. I went out to Theddlethorpe to photograph the sunrise and took my dogs with me.
“They have a habit of photobombing my pictures but when my lurcher dog, Hagrid, posed in front of the rising sun I was really pleased with the result.
“I’ve never won a national photo contest before so it was such a surprise when I got the call to say I had won.
Gill sailed through the competition, which is organised every year by Old Pulteney Single Malt Whisky and the Sunday Express.
Margaret Mary Clarke, senior brand manager of Old Pulteney, said: “This year, Gillian’s stunning beach photograph instantly stood out with its striking sunset reflection and calming composition, truly capturing the spirit of the competition.
Gill has also won an exclusive trip for two to the Wick-based Pulteney Distillery, located in the far North of Scotland.
