A young woman has jived her way to success after getting the highest mark in the country when she qualified as a FitSteps instructor.
Lizzy Jervis, 21, from Tetney, has been passionate about dancing since she was just five years old, going on to train professionally at a private theatre dance school and becoming a Zumba instructor at just 16 years old.
My passion has always been dancing. FitSteps is a fantastic class to work out to, without knowing you’re burning off the calories off.Lizzy Jervis
Lizzy went along to Alton Towers on February 2 to take part in a master-class with Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite, two of the professional dancers from BBC show Strictly Come Dancing, who are also two of the creators of FitSteps.
The FitSteps dance programme is described as a combination of the graceful steps of Ballroom and the up-tempo steps of the Latin dances, combined to create a fun and effective way to stay fit.
After the master-class with the two Strictly Come Dancing stars, Lizzy was assessed by a team of judges while she showed off her skills in order to qualify as an instructor.
Remarkably, Lizzy was granted a gold award with a magnificent score of 49 out of 50, which is the highest mark that has been granted in the United Kingdom so far.
Lizzy said: “My passion has always been dancing. FitSteps is a fantastic class to work out to, without knowing you’re burning off the calories off.”
Lizzy added: “Fitsteps is aimed at all ages, from the very young up to my eldest fit stepper at the wonderful age of 82, enjoying every moment of it!”
Lizzy has now started delivering workshops in colleges and schools, and also offers private lessons to couples who wish to have their first wedding dance choreographed. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org for details or call her on 07867 483891.
