Staff and volunteers from St Andrew’s Hospice shop in Sutton on Sea are celebrating after securing a permanent premises to raise vital funds.
Over the past six years, residents in Sutton on Sea have made a huge contribution in keeping the hospice shop alive and helping it to thrive.
So it’s with thanks to Sutton on Sea that a substantial amount of funding has continually filtered through to Lincolnshire’s only children’s hospice.
The organisation has only had use of the shop via a rental agreement, but recently the premises came up for sale, giving the hospice the opportunity to purchase the building on a permanent basis so the shop can continue to thrive within the town for years to come, with no worry.
Volunteer manager, Doreen Pilling said: “The local community are really supportive of the shop.
“Good stock is the life blood of any charity shop, so we always need good quality donations.
“The team at the shop are really committed to supporting the children’s hospice and without every single one of them we simply couldn’t run such a successful shop.
“We also believe that we are not only raising money for the children’s hospice, but also providing an excellent service to the local community.
“It’s a win win scenario.”
All of the hospice shop volunteers, including some of the hospice staff celebrated in style at the Bacchus Hotel in Sutton on Sea.
Everyone helped to mark the successful purchase of the shop and their continued success for the future with a celebratory cake.
The hospice relies almost entirely on donations to fund the care of Lincolnshire children and their families so they need the continued support of local people.
