Jamaica cycle ride for Marie Curie Cancer Care

MARIE Curie Cancer Care is inviting people to sign up for a trip of a lifetime next September, cycling east to west along Jamaica’s northern shore exploring the Caribbean culture of Jamaica.

The event, taking place from September 12 to 20 2012, offers participants the opportunity to experience the best the island has to offer, cycling along the coastal routes that circle its mountainous heart.

Highlights include climbing the beautiful Dunns River Falls, spending an afternoon with the legendary Mr Motivator and visiting Discovery Bay made famous by Christopher Columbus.

Local fundraiser Mel Ford said: “This is a fantastically rewarding trip. The event will be tough and exhilarating, suitable for anyone with a bit of grit, determination and willingness to work as part of a team”.

Flights and accommodation will be included along with trek mountain bikes, meals and local transfers and you will also be accompanied by a qualified doctor, cycle leader and a Marie Curie Cancer Care representative.

Money raised from the trip will help Marie Curie Cancer Care’s nurses provide free care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes and in the charity’s nine hospices. Open to anyone over the age of 18, the trip has limited availability so it is advisable to register early to avoid disappointment. Registration costs £250 and everyone is asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £3,250.
