Jim's magical role in sixth Potter film

OSCAR winner Jim Broadbent will feature in the next Harry Potter movie as the leader of the Slug Club, Hogwarts potion master Horace Slughorn.

Having filmed in Lincoln this week for movie The Young Victoria - playing her predecessor uncle William VI - Broadbent has revealed that he is involved in a production run through to next May for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," based on the sixth blockbuster novel.

He will be a major part in the film as Slughorn is a central character.

It is scheduled to open next November.

He told the website Dark Horizons how Slughorn, the former head of Slytherin house, is "drawn back out of retirement" by Harry and Dumbledore at the beginning of the novel "because he's got some secrets they need in the battle against the Death Eaters,"

Broadbent, who moved back to the Market Rasen area in the spring after having a cottage retreat near Louth for years, won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Iris in 2002.

Born at Holton cum Beckering, to conscientious objector parents who founded the Broadbent Theatre, he has an immense string of TV and film credits and was recently seen in Hot Fuzz.

He will also be seen in 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
