A JUBILEE wood has been planted in the wildlife area of North Somercotes Primary School field, in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Every class contributed by planting a large selection of native trees, such as cherry and oak.
Deputy headteacher Matthew Nicholson said: “We will also be creating a cairn, which will act as a focal point to the woodland and will include a decorated stone which will be placed by every member of the North Somercotes CE Primary School family.
“We hope this will act as a fond memory and give a sense of place and belonging to everyone in our school community.”
Each class also contributed to a time capsule which will be placed near the cairn.
The wood will be used a reflective area.
