The A16 which was closed from Ulceby Cross, near Alford to Kenwick Top near Louth has now open Lincolnshire County Council confirms.

The road was closed most of yesterday (Wednesday, August 22), and today after a lorry with tonnes of hay cuaght fire just South of Burwell near Louth.

Lincolnshire County Council explained that they have had to resurface 40m of the road on the A16 in order for it to be road worthy once more.

Cars and lorries have been having to use the A157 and A1104 roads between Legbourne and Alford as a diversion.

Fire crews put out the blaze on a Scania LGV and trailer which burnt up around 36 hay bales in the trailer late yesterday evening and the heat from the fire damaged about 300 sqm of road surface on the A16.
