LEADER CHAMPIONS: Search is on for unsung heroes

It’s that time of year again when your Leader seeks to reward the unsung heroes in our community ad say a big thank you for their efforts.

We’ve once again teamed up with Specsavers in Louth to launch the Leader Champions Community Awards 2014 and hunt down the most deserving souls in society.

And this year we have some all new categories for you to enter so we can rewarded an even wider spectrum of our community.

These include, Senior Achiever, the Music and Performing Arts Award, Business/Businessperson of the Year Award and the Charity/Voluntary Organisation of the Year Award.

Now is the time to nominate.

Nominated persons should live or work within the East Lindsey area.

Once the nominations are in we’ll put those deserving nominees to the public vote.

The winners will be revealed at a stunning gala night to be held at Louth’s Riverhead Theatre on Friday November 7.

Nominations must be received by 12 noon on Tuesday September 30.

Award Categories:

Parent of the Year

Is your mum or dad one in a million? If they’re always there for you and you’d be lost without them, why not show how grateful you are and nominate them for this award> Open to mums, dads, guardians and foster parents.

Child of the year

For young people aged 18 or under who have overcome an adversity or faced up with courage to life’s hardships and challenges. The winner will be a real child or courage.

Adult Achiever

Someone over the age of 18 who continues to achieve great things in their work, social life, hobby or pastime and deserves recognition for going the extra mile.

Senior Achiever

This award is for a person whose enthusiasm, verve and vigour defies their years.

An award for someone over 60 years of age who makes a difference to those around them or the wider community.

Excellence in Education

This award is for anyone or any organisation involved in education; a school, a teacher, teaching assistant, community group leader/worker, music teacher or sports coach or just a pupil who has excelled in their studies.

It is to recognise the work and effort put in to education in any way.

Sporting Hero

For a person who has made an outstanding contribution to sport in a playing or non-playing capacity.

Business/Business person of the Year

Is there a business or individual within a business who has gone the extra mile to give excellent customer care, resolve a problem or brighten your day. This is the award to recognise an entire organisation or just a single cog in the machine for overall excellence.

Music & Performing Arts Award

Do you know a someone who has excelled in the world of music or performing arts? Are they the next star of the future and you want to shout about them.

If so send in a nomination about them.

Voluntary/Charity organisation of the Year

This award is for a local Lincolnshire based charity or voluntary organisation 
that deserves recognition for the community work it does, or the fundraising it has undertaken in the past 12 months.

Brave Heart Hero Award

This award will be given to an individual of any who has responded to an immediate need and significantly affected the life or lives of others.

This may be someone who has rescued a person from a dangerous situation or shown immense courage to help another in difficulty.

They could have shown tremendous heroism in an emergency or incredible bravery in the face of adversity.
