The CWSSA District Cross Country Championships were held at Hubbard’s Hills recently and once again two students from Monks’ Dyke Tennyson College excelled in their particular races.

Last year Leah Epton (Year 10) won her race when over 90 entrants participated, and this year she did exactly the same.

This magnificent feat was made more special as Leah ran against runners a year older than herself.

For the second year running, James Larder from Year 9, excelled in his individual race, leaving the rest of the field, standing.

These fantastic performances from both of MDTC‘s students are very commendable and Mr Wright, Head of PE, is extremely proud.

Other memorable performances from Natalie Stainton (Year 11) who came 12th in her particular heat, Ed Birkett who came 16th in his and Joe Wrisdale coming 9th in his race, were noted and added to the success the students have achieved in this event over the years.

All of the students mentioned have qualified to represent the district in the County Championships, to be held at Caythorpe on Saturday January 11. Good luck to all.

Congratulations to Leah and James (pictured) and the other successful students.
