Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance crew Christmas message

The pilots and crew of the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance wish to extend their best wishes to all of the people who live and work in the areas they cover.

Chief Pilot, Paul Smith said: “We’re extremely grateful to the public of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire for their continued support; it really is a pleasure to serve them.”

“The air ambulance relies solely on the generosity of the public to keep it flying and keep saving lives across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire and occasionally in other areas too if required.”

“We’d also like to publicly thank our charity; we may be flying the helicopter and dealing with the sick and injured but if weren’t for the charity organising and overseeing the fundraising we couldn’t do what we do,” said Unit Managers Roger Linnell and Neil Clarke.

“And we do love what we do!” adds Paul.

This year has brought many new developments for call sign Helimed 29, such as the first approval to shock in flight for the type of defibrillator the air ambulance carries and the recent addition of a Trakkabeam search light in preparation for more night flying activities next year, something the entire unit is extremely excited about.

As much as all the crew of the air ambulance Helimed 29, enjoy meeting people who support our work it should be emphasised that they would rather not have people need their services. There is never a good time for illness or injury to occur, but any such tragedy always seems doubly poignant around Christmas and New Year.

They ask that, on Christmas Day as you enjoy spending time with your family and friends, you spare a thought for the duty crew at RAF Waddington, waiting for the next call, always ready to go to the aid of the people of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.

Paul Smith concluded: “So, from all of the pilots and paramedics of the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, we would like to give all of our supporters our very best wishes of the season and a happy, prosperous, but above all safe New Year.”
