Lincolnshire Wolds Railway’s plea for volunteers

FOLLOWING the announcement of its plans to extend the line towards Louth, the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway is appealing for extra volunteers to join its track-laying team.

LWR Managing Director, Frank Street said: “With more hands we will make faster progress”.

“The Permanent Way team plays a vital role in the running of our heritage railway by maintaining and renewing the trackworks. If we can get new recruits it will make a massive difference to the speed with which we can move forward with our project.”

Mr Street added: “This sort of work would suit active people who enjoy the great outdoors. Anyone who is over 16 and is reasonably fit would be welcome. You don’t need previous experience but if there is anyone out there who have been employed doing this type of work in the railway industry that would be even better!”

The Lincolnshire Wolds Railway is based at Ludborough station and volunteers meet every Tuesday and Saturday to carry out routine maintenance as well as work on extending the line.
