SIX local members of the Ancient and Noble Order of the Knights Templar have been recognised for their services to the community.

Terry Morrisroe, Bill Edson, Gordon Newman, Brian McDonald, Jim Ince, and Brian Middleton have each been recognised with an investiture from the organisation.

Sadly, Brian Middleton, a former mayor and councillor in Sutton on Sea, died in May.

He was represented by his widow Sheila at the ceremony which was held this month at the Grange and Links Hotel in Sandilands.

Sir Peter Evans, vice chancellor of the Order, presided over the occasion which was held locally after the members in question were unable to attend the formal investiture which took place at the Templar Church in London in May.
