Louth County Hospital staff to spread infection message for International awareness day.

STAFF at four of the region’s hospitals will team up to spread the hygiene message in a bid to cut out avoidable infections.

In depth displays will be present at each and there will be experts on hand to assist with problems and concerns as part of the World Health Organisation’s hand hygiene day on Thursday May 5.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals (ULH) NHS Trust are behind the event, which will see displays at Louth’s County Hospital as well as Lincoln County Hospital, Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital and Grantham and District Hospital.

Nurse Margaret Fairless-Clarkson, one of the staff involved said: “Displays will include information with regard to Aseptic Non Touch Technique (ANTT), which is used by all members of ULH staff when they are undertaking activities such as wound dressings, catheterisation, cannulation and taking of blood cultures.”
