A LOUTH farmer has truly risen to the top of the bread world after being picked as the new face of a national bread producer’s latest offering.
Drew Smith, of Home Farm off Halfpenny Lane, is enjoying a taste of fame as the fresh frontman of Hovis’s Soft White British Farmers’ Loaf.
Drew was plucked from hundreds of farmers and his beaming face is now featured on the side of every loaf.
Continuing his grandfather’s farming legacy which was originally set up in 1946, Drew now ably manages the 7,500 acre Home Farm along with four other family directors.
“I’m extremely proud to grow and harvest the best quality 100 per cent British wheat that goes into the new Farmers’ Loaf,” said Drew.
“My goal was to help Hovis make the best ever British loaf, something that people could really enjoy eating and I’m proud to put my name to it!
“I love the challenges and variations the job brings and being hands on with everything.”
Matthew Hunt of Hovis said it was great for the company to work with Louth farmer Drew to produce top quality British wheat.
