ON Monday June 6, at the Playhouse Cinema, Louth Film Club will be screening a French/Italian film directed by an Iranian and co-starring an Englishman.
Certified Copy is an unconventional love story, set in rural Tuscany. Juliette Binoche, the great French film star, won the Best Actress Award at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival for her role as art gallery owner and William Shimell, an opera singer in his first straight acting role, is the art historian she meets at one of his lectures.
The dialogue is in English and, with subtitles, in French and Italian.
Certified Copy is Certificate 12A. Tickets cost £3.50 for members or £5.70 (£4.50 concessions) for non-members. The film starts at 7.30pm.
You can pick up Louth Film Club’s 2011/12 programme at Off The Beaten Tracks record shop at 36 Aswell Street, Louth (closed on Thursdays), Louth Library, the Playhouse Cinema or the Tourist Information Office.
The club’s website — www.louthfilmclub.com — also has details of its films, with images and links to trailers.
