Louth man faces historic sex abuse charges

A 79-year-old Louth man has appeared in custody before court in Skegness on charges of historic sexual abuse stretching back almost 40 years.

Barry Stephenson, of Kidgate, entered no pleas to the eleven allegations of indecent assault and three of gross indecency between November 1965 and October 1994.

All but one of the allegations come from the period November 1965 to November 1974.

Asad Aziz, representing Stephenson, said he was ‘appalled’ at the allegations, which he denied.

District Judge Murray, sitting at Skegness Magistrates Court, remanded Stephenson to Lincoln Crown Court on January 27 and granted him conditional bail.
