Louth Run for Life 2014 takes place this weekend

Louth Run For Life 2014 takes place this Sunday (June 29) and entries are still flooding in.

Everything is in place to make it even bigger and better than last year. In the eight years since the event started, more than £180,000 has been raised for Cancer Research UK.

It will be a great event for all of the family, with a scenic course around Louth town centre and the stunningly beautiful Hubbard’s Hills.

The day starts with the junior run (under 12’s) which will commence at 10am, followed by the women’s 5km run at 10.30am, and finally the men’s 5km run which begins at 11.45am. Everyone who finishes will receive a goodie bag and a commemorative medal.

The organising committee have improved the junior course which will now be one large lap of the town centre. Starting in Mercer Row, the juniors will run down Eastgate before turning down Burnt Hill Lane and on to Queen Street, and then Aswell Street. This leads onto Kidgate and then Upgate before heading back to the finish area in the Cornmarket.

The route for the senior races will remain unchanged, heading out of the town centre through the picturesque Hubbard’s Hills before heading back to the finish in the Cornmarket.

There will be warm up exercises before each race, and the event will be compered again by local DJ Rick Howell and Radio Lincolnshire presenters.

There will be prizes for the best fancy dress, and there will also be food stalls available.

After the run, the fun continues at The Kings Head Hotel, where there will be live music and a hog roast. They will also be serving hot drinks before the event.

If you haven’t already entered the run, it is still not too late. Entry forms are available from various locations in Louth including Louth Leader office, the Cancer Research shop, Peter Mountain Estate Agents, and The Gaff as well as many other places.

People can enter on the day at the “Run HQ” (based in Peter Mountain Estate Agents office). This will be open from 8am. In previous years this has been very busy, so ideally go along with a completed form ready and the correct money to speed up the registration process.

The Louth Run for Life committee are always looking for volunteers to help on the day. If you are interested in helping please contact Simon West on 07971 159138
