Louth Subway to hold ‘bikeathon’ for Sport Relief

The Subway sandwich shop in Eastgate will be holding an all-day ‘bikeathon’ on Friday March 21, with members of staff volunteering their time to keep on pedalling throughout the day. The fundraiser is being held in aid of Sport Relief.

The staff will take it in turns to keep the wheels turning on an in-store exercise throughout the 11-hour day, starting at 7am. A similar fundraiser is being held in the Grimsby branch on Wednesday March 19, and it is hoped that the stores can raise around £500 between them.

Customers and members of the public can simply visit the store and pop money into Subway’s charity bucket, or if they wish they can go along before (or after) the event and offer sponsorship.

Kirren Nijjar, speaking on behalf of the fundraisers, said: “All the planning and the organising has been done by the staff, it’s been a team effort. The staff have shown great enthusiasm.

“We hope this will promote healthy eating alongside healthy living and a healthy lifestyle.”
