The National Coastwatch Institution in Mablethorpe was the only rescue service in the area selected to attend an important rescue training day at Crowle on the Isle of Axholme recently.
The team from Mablethorpe provided information to the other services as of their particular skills and showed a variety of equipment that they use in spotting, plotting and reporting. On hand to answer the myriad of questions was the station manager Laurie King, and a team of watch keepers from the Mablethorpe NCI station and while there, their colleagues manned the Mablethorpe station as normal.
As an added bonus in 2015, the team also recently appeared at this years London and Southampton Boat Show and The London Boat Show.
They were awarded a prestigious award from the Royal Cruising Club for services to cruising.
The award was in recognition of NCI’s first twenty years and the growing contribution that the charity is making to the safety of yachts at sea.
