Mablethorpe footballers cycle to help their club

MABLETHORPE boys football team have completed a challenging six mile bike ride to raise money to keep their club running for the 2011/12 season.

On a dry and sunny morning on Saturday, May 21 the boys along with some supporters cycled from Mablethorpe to Sutton on Sea and back, raising £750 in the process.

Manager Simon Twigg said: “It costs up to £1,100 to get the boy’s team running for a full season.

“We have great support from the parents and our kit sponsors but this sort of event helps to fund the rest and it teaches the kids to play an active role in their own club. I’m really pleased with the event and how much we managed to raise.”
